Nourishing non-toxic Eye Liners
What are eyeliners used for?
Eye liners are a staple part of most beauty routines. They can be used to wonderfully enhance the shape of your eyes or make them appear larger. Despite their popularity and regular use, finding the right eyeliner that doesn’t smudge or make you look like you are going to a costume party can be quite a task.
Eyeliners are available in many different varieties. These include liquid eyeliners, felt-tip eyeliner, gel/cream eyeliner, pencil eyeliner, and mechanical twist-up eyeliner. Liquid eyeliners are the best when it comes to staying power but they dry quickly making it difficult to smudge for a smoke-y eye look. Felt tip eyeliners are the same as liquid eyeliners but have a felt-tip instead of a brush for application.
Gel eyeliners have a waxy consistency and need a brush to be applied. Pencil eyeliners are the most versatile and are a combination of dry and creamy formulas. Mechanical twist-up eyeliners are the same as pencil eyeliners except they don’t need to be sharpened. This dazzling array of different varieties is just one challenge. Another major challenge is choosing between conventional products versus natural products.
This is a challenge because traditionally natural organic products could not rival conventional products in terms of texture and pigment, which is important when you are looking for dark or vibrant eyeliners that are not only easy to apply but are also long lasting. However the pigments in conventional products are the biggest offenders when it comes to toxicity, causing endocrine disruption and increasing the risk of cancers.
Fortunately, natural makeup has come a long way and now many clean beauty eyeliners can firmly hold their place against their more popular conventional counterparts. Not only do they protect your eyes from harmful ingredients like carbon black (created by combusting heavy-duty petroleum products or coal), they instead nourish your delicate eye area with potent natural botanicals and ingredients like creamy butters, vitamin E, and jojoba oil.
Free of synthetic dyes, these eyeliners get their rich and deep pigments from purely natural sources. These can be as varied as pine resin, plant-derived pigments of daisy, cranberry, turmeric, basil and henna, mica, micronized black tea leaves, and other pure mineral pigments. All these ensure that your eyes are nourished and cared for with the best of mother nature’s botanicals.
