The Health benefits of Red Palm Oil

Red Palm Oil is commonly confused with Palm Kernel Oil but they are, in fact, different types of oil derived from the same plant. Red Palm Oil is extracted from the fleshy pulp of the palm fruit while palm kernel oil is extracted from the kernels. Red palm oil is extremely high in beta-carotene which gives it its red color.

Rich in tocotrienols, carotenoids, phytoserols, CoQ10, and squalene give red palm oil its unique properties that make it a powerhouse for both hair and skin care. Red palm oil is the best source of carotenoids. These give your skin and hair broad spectrum coverage and protection from UV radiation, blocking up out four levels of sun rays. Used topically, it protects your skin and hair from oxidization and free radical damage which causes premature aging and damages hair.

It is also rich in vitamin E, a potent antioxidant, which can repair damaged skin and reverse signs of premature aging like fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation. It improves blood circulation and assists in regeneration of skin cells. This enables the formation of newer and healthier layers of skin which can restore your skin to a more youthful and fresher appearance.

Red palm oil has moisturizing properties as well that enable it to hydrate skin and hair deeply. Its content of re-fattening agents helps restore the natural balance of the skin’s oils and transforms skin to becoming soft and supple. The CoQ10 also boosts the skin’s collagen levels and hence improves overall elasticity. The vitamin K levels are useful to help skin repair from scarring, burns, stretch marks etc.

The beta-carotene in red palm oil converts into vitamin A which is easily absorbed to ensure great scalp and hair health. The re-fattening agents restore hydration to dry and damaged hair. This can transform hair from weak and brittle so deeply nourished and resilient, restoring its shine and luster. The high vitamin E content boosts cell growth of hair follicles while also preventing hair loss and decreasing premature greying.

With its antibacterial properties, red palm oil can be useful in fighting bacteria and parasites on both your skin and scalp reducing problems like acne, breakouts, dandruff, itchiness etc.
